Ryo & Earning Money
They Ryo system is one that makes this entire forum function. Ryo fuels everything; character incentives, progression, NPCs, factions, you name it and Ryo is likely involved in some way or another. As such, it's something that all characters will require, and inevitably have to work toward earning, if they desire to grow and evolve. Most of the time, characters are going to be seeking out Ryo in order to advance their Stat Ranks. Simply put, obtaining a C-Rank Stat point costs 2,000 Ryo. Naturally this transfers exponentially when looking to upgrade Stats;
- Going from C-Rank to B-Rank costs 4,000 Ryo.
- Going from B-Rank to A-Rank costs 8,000 Ryo.
- Going from A-Rank to S-Rank costs 16,000 Ryo.
- Going from S-Rank to SS-Rank costs 32,000 Ryo.
- Going from SS-Rank to SSS-Rank costs 64,000 Ryo.
This would mean that going from C-Rank to SSS-Rank in a singular stat would cost 124,000 Ryo; when you're earning on average 100 to 200 Ryo per post, you one can expect that this isn't going to be something that comes quickly. Luckily, there are a plentiful amount of ways to earn Ryo! As just stated, simply being active and making posts will earn your character a passive income of anywhere from 100 to 200 Ryo per post on average, and potentially even more when mixed in with Social Interactions. On top of that, characters are also able to earn Ryo through;
- Founding a Faction, which grants 10,000 Ryo.
- Joining an RPC-made Faction, which grants 10,000 Ryo.
- Seizing Control of Territory, which grants 5,000 Ryo for uncontested territory, and an amount dependent on the territory.
- Maintaining Control over Territory, which grants Ryo every other Friday, dependent on the territory.
- Successfully Defending Territory, which grants Ryo dependent on the territory.
- Running a Business, which grants your RPC full profit over all Ryo made, split between those that work under your business how you see fit.
- Completing Missions, which grants Ryo based on the mission's Rank.
Naturally this list isn't going to cover any and every way to make Ryo; if characters provide their own ways of making money, it very well could be added to this list in time! Below is an explanation of each of these different money-making methods, that way you'll be able to know exactly what goes into each method, and how to profit off of doing so.
Founding, Joining, & Supporting Factions
For more information going into how to create and successfully run a Faction or Organization, Please read Organizations, Factions, & Territory. Creating, running, and directing a Faction or Organization is a great way to start making money not only for yourself, but for the rest of your group as well. Once the prerequisites are met in order to form a faction, all founding members will be immediately granted 10,000 Ryo after the faction is approved by a member of the Site Staff. When other players decide to join that same Faction, they'll also be granted a free 10,000 Ryo. Characters that create or join a faction are only able to gain these Ryo bonuses once per character. Additionally, completing Missions established by your faction will also net rewards not only for those that participated in the mission, but will also work to Rank-Up the faction in question, allowing for more potential rewards later on, and grant a payout of Ryo into the faction's Bank.
Territory Conflict
As one might've guessed, territory and area control plays a very big part here on Shattered Dreams. Your territory is your home; your hunting grounds, a place you've sworn to or have been assigned to protect, you name it. As such, interacting with that territory and doing what you can in order to maintain your home turf will net potentially significant rewards. Starting with seizing control of territory; rising to power within a Ward and claiming said Ward for your faction will naturally result in increased notoriety, and notoriety usually means money. Every other week that these seized territories are maintained, every member in the faction involved (including NPCs) will be granted an additional 2,000 Ryo per territory claimed. Naturally, this has the potential to add up incredibly quickly, so there's tons of incentive toward maintaining those areas.
In order to prevent people from simply stalling out territory conflict, though, while a Territory War is currently going on, the current owner of the contested territory will not receive the weekly rewards for that territory until the thread concludes. Contrary to that, though, if at least one member of the initiating team does not post within 24 hours of the last post from the defending party, the conflict will be considered over and the thread will be graded prematurely, once again to prevent stalling-out a thread to minimize rewards for other factions. Those from the defending team that take more than three days in between their posts are considered to have retreated from the thread, and will only get rewards up to the point in which they are considered to have left; bonuses for winning do not apply if they would have obtained them. Only engage in a Territory War if you know you're going to be able to keep up with it.
Businesses & Shops
Running a business is also a phenomenal way in order to make a bit of money on the side, but do require an up-front investment in Ryo in order to open and maintain. A business can be anything that the creator of said business wishes to run; a coffee shop, a bar, a mask shop, etc. Ultimately, it's the creator's imagination that is the limiting factor here. When a Shop is created, the creator (and those that wish to also found said Shop are required to collectively pay an up-front cost of 10,000 Ryo in order to open. From there, the creator(s) are able to create up to three items for their Shop. These items can be anything; coffee, alcohol, masks, etc. These items are able to possess unique effects upon purchase, chosen by the creator(s) and approved by the Staff Team. For example, coffee can provide a one-time boost to a user's Presence for one-thread, alcohol can temporarily increase Resistance at the cost of Speed and Strength, and custom-made masks can allow a character to evade bounties. When these items are purchased by other RPCs, all of those involved with the business receive a Ryo reward equal to the price of the item, split amongst those that helped pay the initial cost of the shop. A Business, however, focuses more on services instead of items. Generally this could mean anything; selling information, taking on contracts for hits, whatever you could desire to open. Instead of costing as much as a Shop to open, Businesses only require 5,000 Ryo in order to open.
