Bending down to touch their toes, Wynne let out a slight groan before pulling their body back upwards. Twisting their body from side to side, they watched as their fellow coworkers did the same. Today was a joint training day at the CCG, which meant that they had to pair up with someone in order to improve themselves and their skills. Once every week. While it wasn’t anything special, they didn’t think it was as bad as some people made it out to be. It took a few hours max, and then they were free to do whatever they wanted for the day after.
Once their stretching was finished, Wynne looked around for their partner. Everyone around them were already in pairs, so they were forced to move from their current position to find anyone else who was alone. It only took a few moments before they found what they were looking for. Walking up to the behemoth of a man that they saw from a distance, Wynne wondered just how tall their fellow purple-haired compatriot was. From a quick glance, they could tell he was at least a foot taller than them with some extra inches to spare.
“Hello, I’m Wynne. Do you mind being my partner for this training session?” Normally Wynne would be nervous asking such a thing, and while they were, it wasn’t for the reason they normally would be. They weren’t asking for a spar. No, for these types of training, the pair would usually practice fighting in sync and covering each other's backs. Therefore they didn’t have to fear the large man in front of them. They were all friends here right?

Alexander had originally been looking forward, hell even somewhat pumped, to this training operation since he hasn't had much to do since getting here. He was of course greatly disappointed when he learned that this was a joint, team training exercise focused on team work rather than actual combat and skill. So when Wynne approached him, he wasn't really looking for a partner nor did it seem anyone else was interested in partnering with him.
As Wynne approaches him, standing off and away from the group really with his arms crossed and a scowl settled on his face, he makes no indication that he notices they're walking towards him until they finally spoke, “Hello, I’m Wynne. Do you mind being my partner for this training session?” Alexander simply gives them a disinterested look and then shrugs as he uncrosses his arms with a sigh, "Considering you were the only one with enough guts to approach me and ask, sure."
He rolls his shoulders, flexing and relaxing his muscles before he begins stretching. He does pause however and stares at Wynne with a bit of a perplexed look as he's clearly trying to figure something out, "You look familiar but I can't place ya."

Thankfully the enormous man in front of them agreed to be their training partner. And judging from his words, everyone else was too intimidated to do so. They could see why as well. Still, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Even if the cover is filled with bulging muscles and a fearsome scowl.
Even more interesting was the fact that the man had said they seemed somewhat familiar. And since Wynne hadn’t had too many assignments as an investigator yet, the times where he had seen them had to be before that. And there was only one place that could be. Sunlight Garden. Frowning at the unpleasant memory, they stared at their partner’s face, trying to bring it up from the depths of their memory. Unfortunately they weren’t successful in that endeavor. All they could remember from their time at Sunlight Garden was pain and misery. Nothing else stood out to them.
“Could you perhaps be from Sunlight Garden as well? That’s the only thing I can think of. I haven’t been out and about much yet.” Most of their days were spent inside, researching Quinque or trying to create some sort of mechanical instrument. They weren’t the type to just wander around and enjoy the scenery unless they were forced too. It just wasn’t in their nature.

Alexander raises a brow as he fully turns to face them and grins, "Sunlight Garden huh? Well that would make sense I guess. I'm Alexander." He extends a hand for them to shake as he glances around to see what the others were doing exactly for the training operation. God forbid he actually look incompetent.
His memories if Sunlight Garden wasn't in as a negative view as Wynne might hold them. Granted he also had pretty unpleasant memories to began with that any pain or misery that he had experienced while in Sunlight Garden were massively better when compared to his older memories in life.
Not wanting to dwell much more on these memories, he shakes himself out of his head and back to the present and glances down at Wynne, "So...got any clue as to what we're supposed to be doing? I kind of zoned out when I realized it wasn't a complete combat training."

Shaking the extended hand, Wynne nodded softly before answering his question. “Yeah, we’re supposed to learn how to use our skills in a group setting. Be they from Quinque or our body. Although everyone seems to be doing stretches and warmups right now which is probably a good idea. Don’t want to pull something from just a training exercise.” Moving a few steps away from Alexander, Wynne began to copy some of the stretches others were doing nearby. They weren’t anything special, but they didn’t have to be. All they needed was for their muscles to be warmed up, and they were good to go.
“I guess we should discuss our specialties and skills first, so we can figure out what our composition in battle would look like. As for me, I specialize in ranged attacks and support, so I have a preference for the back line.” While Wynne could frontline if it was necessary, they weren’t that good at it. While their aim was usually spot on, the same could not be said for their strength. Anyone struck by Wynne would probably barely feel a thing.

Alex sighs as he nods and joins them in stretching, never really finding the need for it but since they were going to be taking this time to stretch then he might as well go ahead and follow suit instead of standing around. He was mostly stretching his arms and legs.
As he listens to them talk, he takes in their form and tries to recall them from his time at the Garden but comes up blank. Not surprising as he was usually one to keep to himself, even at the Garden. He nods as they mention their specialties and grins, "Well then that's good news for me since I specialize in getting up close and personal with ghouls. Don't worry about shooting me though. If you have to shoot me to get the target then take it."

“That’s good. Our skill sets seem to match quite well then. As for shooting you, I doubt it’ll ever come to that. I take pride in my aim.” Wynne had spent years training their aim, and it showed. While they weren’t perfect, their shots were a step above the rest of their peers. Shooting a target that was fighting their partner at close range wouldn’t be that much of a problem. They might have to take a moment to line up their shot, but that was about it.
Finishing up their stretches, Wynne let out a sigh as the pain slowly vanished from their muscles. Twisting and popping their fingers, they turned to Alex. “What type of Quinque do you use? Since you like being close range, I assume it's either a Rinkaku or a Bikaku?” Ukaku quinque were usually ranged weapons so that was out and while Koukaku was an option, those were usually defensive. And Alex didn’t seem the type to use something like that.

While that assumption did make the most sense, that was not the case with Alex as he shook his head as he popped his knuckles and neck, "Koukaku actually. The closer the better and it's outfitted to be more suited to my style of fighting, although if you ask anyone else they'll just say that I don't have a style and just fight like a rabid animal."
He shrugs as he makes the comment and moves over to where everybody had their Quinque stationed and picks up his case. He clicks the button on the handle and suddenly a pair of large, clawed, red gauntlets form around his fist. Despite the fact that they appear quite hefty, he manages to lift his arms up and swings them around a few times, "What do you think?"

“A rabid animal eh?”
Narrowing their eyes slightly and looking Alex’s large frame up and down, Wynne nodded their head. They could see where the unendearing term came from. It was why they treated others with respect, so they didn’t get embarrassing nicknames such as this. They couldn’t imagine being compared to some sort of downtrodden mutt.
Following their partner to his Quinque, they watched as the enormous man pulled out a pair of large blood red gauntlets. Getting punched by those would surely leave a mark from the looks of it. As Alex gave them a few test punches, he turned towards them and asked Wynne what they thought about his weapon.
“They look….imposing? Not really something I personally would use myself. Although they seem a good fit for you. I don’t really like being close to my opponents, but that’s not really a problem for you. They seem quite deadly though.”
Directing their attention back towards the rack, Wynne began their search for their own Quinque. Since Alex had shown them his, it was only right for them to reciprocate the favor. Now all they had to do was actually find their weapon and they would be good to go. Easier said than done when all the Quinque were stored in the same generic cases. How nice.

Alex chuckles at Wynne's assessment of his Quinque and the rabid animal comment, "Yeah, it's why I started going by Beast during spars." They weren't wrong about them appearing deadly as the claws on had serrated edges, which made them especially good for tearing up and pulling on the insides of his enemies whenever Alex would be fighting.
As he puts the gauntlets back into their case, Alex glances over at Wynne curiously as they searched for their own. He steps next to them and glances at the case before he puts his back on the table. It looked mostly like the rest of the cases save for the red and black tape wrapped around the handle, "You use an Ukaku I assume? Got any kind of special markings on it? I know protocol advises against that but it's kind of dumb if you ask me."

“Oh your own nickname huh? Pretty cool.”
For a moment Wynne wondered if they should come up with a nickname. Tilting her head in thought, she quickly scrapped that idea as quickly as it arrived. Her name for now would be fine. Maybe once she was more successful she’d give the idea some more thought?
Opening another case, he finally found the Quinque he was looking for. Taking out their children with a gentle hold, they slowly rubbed the cool metal beneath their fingertips. Finally, they were back in the right hands.
With their weapon facing downwards, Wynne showed off her Ukaku to Alex. Her weapon took the form of a small pistol. Easy to wield and shoot. Perfect for someone like them. Wieldable in both hands, it had a light pink overcoat of paint on the top while being completely black on the bottom. Rotating it slowly, they allowed their teammate to get a good look before placing it back in the case.
“Hmm, for special markings I did get some custom colors on it, does that count? I didn’t want some bland normal looking weapon that everyone had. Wanted someone a little bit more....... me ya know?

Alex took a good look at their pistol, nodding somewhat impressed by it but chuckles at their response to his question, "I meant like on the case so you can identify it better but the pink coat works too. I like it. I should probably do something similar to mine although I'm probably just going to end up getting a replacement at some point."
He gestures for them to follow him as he heads back to their spot, glancing around to see what the other groups were doing. He was rather lucky to end up with some one who prefers to be on the back lines for an exercise like this and maybe he can even get a chance to really warm up.

“That’s true, but nothing is forever. Might as well spice up your weapon while you still can.”
Following the taller man back to their usual spot, Wynne wondered what was next. Now that the two were stretched and limbered up, the more pressing exercises could be done without hassle. Towards the right of the two was a pristine track that they could run on for cardio. Something that was very important in their line of work. Ghouls were already faster than the baseline human, and if they wanted any hope of surviving, they’d need to become faster. Fast enough to match their opponents speed.
There was also exercise equipment splattered about. Some of them simple like yoga mats and rope. While others had machines that targeted certain areas of the body. Judging from what everyone else was doing, it seemed that their next session could be taken in any order. Maybe to not fill up one area too much?
Tilting her head gently towards Alex, Wynne took in a shallow breath before speaking. “Seems like everyone’s moving on to the next section. I think we can either do some weight lifting or run the track. Doing the track first might be easiest, but I’m fine with whatever order you want to go in.”

Alex glances at the track with a bit of a grimace as they suggest it . While he may not be the slowest he knows he's also not as quick as he'd like to be, especially when compared to his impressive strength, he definitely fits the stereotype of strong but slow. As much as he wasn't looking forward to it, it really couldn't get any worse than this. At least he'd be able to work on his reps later.
They did also have their quinque here as well so maybe they could get a chance to work on their fighting capabilities although no doubt they'd be forced to work together in teams. Alex understood the need for working in teams to taking on ghouls but he still didn't get along with very many people so he figured they'd just leave him on his own.
He let's out a loud sigh but nods as he motions for them to lead the way, "Guess we really don't have any other choice. Still wish this were a more combat focused exercise." Once on the track, he starts to stretch his legs for a bit before he glances down at Wynne with a bit of a curious look, "So we doing a race or are we just going to keep it steady?"

“Working on our cardio will definitely be useful, even if it's not as fun as other exercises.” Having enough stamina and speed to fight ghouls was quite necessary in their line of work, or they wouldn’t be working for long. The moment an investigator stopped honing their body was the moment they died. Against ghouls, they needed every advantage they could get, and a quinque could only do so much.
“Hmm, we could do a race. It’ll at least make things a bit more interesting ya know?” Jogging was nice and all, but it did lose its appeal after the first five or so laps. A little bit of competition would help her motivation. Plus she had a reason to push herself. Harder than she normally would’ve.
As the two stretched their legs and walked onto the track, Wynne glanced at her taller companion. “On the count of three?” If Alex agreed, she’d start the countdown before bolting off from the starting line the moment the word go left her lips. It was time to see how fast her lumbering friend was.
