It was a chilly night, stars far above in the sky but unseen thanks to the lights from the city below. Jack had another chat with the Investigator known as Wynne today, apparently they were searching for a Ghoul that can be somewhat problematic. He never heard of this, as Wynne put it, "Crazy electric butterfly chick". So after the investigator left Jack's interests peaked.
Thus Jack now sits atop a decently high building in Shinigawa, also known as the 9th ward. This was far from his home, a few wards away actually. To top it off he's heard stories that the group known as Aogiri tree owns this territory. At some point he'll inevitably have to deal with them, but for now it's best to keep off there radar as a threat.
Jumping from his perch he lands on a building corner, one that's still under construction. There's only one solid floor that he could see and that's near the base of the building. Every other floor is nothing but wooden planks and steel beams, though what's already done seems to be quite sturdy. It seems to be a good 20 story building and he's currently hanging off one corner scanning his surroundings for any sign of this Ghoul.

Feeling the cool breeze ruffle their hair, Wynne let out a sigh as she flicked her lighter despondently. She’d been feeling like burnt embers lately, smoldering and dying. Life wasn’t as bright as it used to be. Like someone put a gloomy filter over everything, sucking the enjoyment out of the things she once loved.
Her encounter with the butterfly ghoul had been a wakeup call. The only reason they were alive was by luck. The whimsical whim of a ghoul. They should’ve died that day, just like the rest of the incompetent investigators sent out too soon. But they didn’t. So here they were. Suffering.
Wynne’s clothes resembled her mood, black and void of life. She wore a long sleeve shirt and tight black pants. Clothing that would hide her from view thanks to the encroaching darkness. She was on the hunt for the ghoul that had almost killed her, but this time she was prepared. Her two pistols were strapped to her side with Viper wrapped around her waist. Humility was strapped near her ankle while Desolation rested on the back of her waist. She would deal with this infection in her soul, or she would die trying.
It had taken quite some time of asking around to narrow down Adelina’s location. It seemed she was in her wandering phase currently, never staying in the same spot for too long. But Wynne had a goal. A purpose she wouldn’t give up on. She asked whoever she could, bystanders, workers such as Jack, anyone that could help. And thanks to their persistence, they finally found the ward she resided in. The 9th ward.
Quieting the sound of her footsteps on pavement, Wynne looked upwards at the building currently being constructed. Right now it looked like a pitiful empty husk, with beams and tiles glittering from the moonlight. A suspicious building, as some ghouls like to make abandoned places their home. It was worth checking out. Resting her hand on her Quinque’s hilt, the investigator headed deeper inside. What did the rest of this night have in store for her?

The Remmy Gotanda. One of many malls in the shopping district of Shinagawa. While it was well known that ghoul activity ran rampant in the 9th Ward, that did not stop business owners from offering their services to the struggling populace. With no fool proof way of detecting ghouls, it was risky business. Alas, the night was young and there was fun to be had.
Beneath the countless blinding lights that adorned opening signs and billboards, a voice called out, "Hey, let's check this place out, Adelina!" The ghoul turned her head to look at yet another department store. She grimaced a little. She loved spoiling herself and shopping for clothes, but this... this was ridiculous. She was already carrying an entire bag of new clothes. "Come on Katie... We've been here all day!" There was a hint of disappointment in her voice. "Can't we start heading back?" After some further deliberation, it was finally agreed that they could leave.
Walking under the cold night sky, the silence only broken by a nearby train, Adelina was walking home. However, she would not be alone. Beside her would be a woman. She couldn't be more than 20, at most, and had a full head of brown hair. "So, are you going to come by campus sometime?" Adelina mulled it over. Katie was a university student at Rissho, among the oldest universities in Japan. The ghoul briefly tapped her chin before turning to Katie and grinning. "Well..." There was a hint of hesitation in her voice.
Suddenly, Katie turned to Adelina and gave her puppy dog eyes. Adelina averted her gaze briefly and sighed defeatedly. "Fine, fine... how about I visit tomorrow? Sound good?" Seemingly acquiescing, Katie roared triumphantly. "Great!" Adelina couldn't help, but chuckle somewhat. This girl was something else. After meeting with the Aogiri operative and sticking around Shinagawa for a while, Adelina met Katie while scouring the Ward for some decent food.
Initially enticed by her scent, Adelina saw her as nothing, but food. In a way, she still largely did. However, Katie seemed to bring out a softer side of the Ghoul. It was in Adelina's nature to feign kindness to gain the trust of her quarry. This was no different, but... Katie was curious. She could have a fiery temper that reminded Adelina of herself. For now, Adelina had made the decision to keep her alive, should she continue to prove interesting. After all... it would make the inevitable meal so much more enjoyable!
Adelina served as somewhat of a natural bodyguard for Katie. Of course, the latter had no way of knowing that. Ghouls simply didn't go through the stress of fighting another ghoul. This effectively gave Katie some protection when they were walking together. Aside from those times, Katie was a bit of an introvert, spending large amounts of time in her room to study. This left her practically untouched. Nevertheless, Adelina would continue walking with the girl, her familiar blonde hair on full display.

As Jack was skimming the surrounding area from were he perched, movement caught his eye. It seems he was searching the right area after all, for just below him Wynne was standing. It seems like him, the investigator was scanning the area. Thankfully the darkness and glare from surrounding lights hid his presence. Of course even if he was spotted the mask and attire he had on would have concealed his identity. A black hoodie zipped up to hide his normal green short sleeve shirt underneath, also some black sport sweats that covered his blue shorts.
Pulling back father into the darkness within the unfinished building, Jack notices more movement farther down the street. The lights barely showing a pair of girls walking their way. It wasn't to odd other than the fact this was a ward with high Ghoul activity. So either a ghoul was among them (or both of them) or they were naïve when it comes to the dangers lurking in the shadow. Instead of making himself known yet, he opted to wait and see what happened. Maybe the crazy electric butterfly chick was one of the girls? or one/both of them were ghouls who knew the whereabouts of said Ghoul.

Wynne could hear them, like rats scurrying in a murky tunnel. The sound of feet pattering against the cold damp ground. Turning to face behind her, she watched the approach of two women with dead eyes. Bystanders or something more? This ward was dangerous. Feral. Chaotic. Walking around without a plan was usually a death sentence. So just what were these two doing, traversing this area so late at night?
Emerging from the darkness of the building she was under, Wynne stood in the middle of the walkway. Approaching the two with a lackluster wave, she examined the potential clues to Adelina. One seemed excitable, with almost boundless energy. Her partner seemed calmer, and a little more recognizable. However, she wasn’t the first person Wynne had seen with blonde hair, and she had made wrong assumptions before. Just having blonde hair didn’t mean the woman was the ghoul she was searching for.
“Excuse me, I have a few questions I need to ask the two of you.” Flipping out her badge deftly, the investigator sighed softly as she awaited a response. It had been a long tiresome day and she wanted it over with. Unfortunately for her, the grind never stopped. Hence the reason she was doing all of this on only a few hours of sleep. And the longer she waited, the more innocents that died.

Continuing to walk along the street, Adelina kept her eyes open. Nighttime was the perfect time for ghouls to begin hunting. Having a human beside her was risky business, but Adelina felt confident in her ability. Thankfully, thus far the night would seem to be quiet. She could enjoy some piece. It seemed, however, that the universe would not be so kind today after all. As they got closer to the shadows of nearby buildings, a figure would make themselves known.
Walking opposite of them, they'd give a lazy wave to the pair. As they drew closer, it became clearer and clearer that it was their goal to intercept. Adelina squinted her eyes for the briefest of moments. She saw... pink hair? They had an androgynous look about them. They seemed familiar. Katie, in the meantime, looked to Adelina as Wynne approached. "Oh. I wasn't expecting to see anyone else out here."
Despite seemingly innocent, it was a rather good point. Shinagawa was a Ward plagued by Aogiri. Ghouls ran rampant. Even walking alone during the day was a dangerous endeavor. Those who walked at night were either foolhardy or they had nothing to fear. On the way to their collision course, Adelina caught the Investigators scent. "A human, huh?" She had to play nice. Especially once Wynne addressed the two women. “Excuse me, I have a few questions I need to ask the two of you.” Flipping out their badge, Adelina blinked.
It was an Investigator after all. Not only that but Adelina had finally remembered them. It had been a few months back, but there was no mistake. "Wynne? What the hell are they doing here?!" Despite her livid thoughts, Adelina gave a soft sigh. Katie, meanwhile, leaned forward. "Hmm? That badge... you're CCG, aren't you?" Adelina chuckled. This girl certainly had an eye for the obvious. For now, however, she'd play along.
She gasped somewhat, feigning surprise. "What? The CCG... so that means.." She'd look Wynne up and down. "You hunt ghouls right? I'm glad to see that Shinagawa hasn't been abandoned." She smiled brightly, doing her best to put up an act. Ohhhh, how she hated Investigators. She wanted nothing more than to take Wynne's head and slam it repeatedly against the wall. Nothing would be more cathartic. However... were there more of them? Adelina had to play this safe if she wanted her and Katie to get out of this unscathed.
