Alexander walks briskly into the CCG Headquarters, dressed in tight black jeans, a white button up shirt and a green fur-trimmed coat. His long purple hair is let loose and untamed as he also sports several piercings in each ear. He was clearly young and not what one would imagine when they thought of a CCG Investigator. He has both hands in the pockets of his coat and makes his way to a certain room. He'd been told that he was getting placed on a special assignment, which surprised him considering how new he was.
Still he knew he was special, with all his marks throughout training and the promise he showed? Yeah he knew he was going to be making a splash in the CCG. He just didn't expect it to be so soon. He finally finds the small briefing room he'd been instructed to report to and enters with a light knock and a grin, "Hello? I was told to report here for my assignment. Name's Alexander Keres." He quickly takes in the occupants of the room.

Letting out a soft sigh while she walked, Setsuko took the time to scroll through her social media on the way to the meeting room she'd been told to head to. While she certainly wasn't a fan of being drawn away from her own work, she'd known what something like this meant; she'd likely be sent out on field work sometime soon. In truth, it was one of the main reasons she was so compliant with the assignment; field work meant more money, and money meant more advanced projects. She'd already been making plans for new gear, and was absolutely itching to see if any of it was going to work as well as it sounded on paper. Hopefully this mission was going to be able to do her well in making stable prototypes.
Walking down the halls without so much as looking up from her phone, Setsuko was eventually met with a simple, fairly unassuming door down the west wing of the 10th floor. These first few floors were predominantly used for meetings amongst the Junior Investigators, so they weren't anything she was particularly unfamiliar with at the time. She'd gotten to know a few of these rooms fairly well over the last month or so since her original induction within her own Squad. Nonetheless, she was glad to see that she was finally able to spread her wings a little bit; seemed her time as a member of the Quinx was paying off well.
Walking into the room, Setsuko noticed fairly quickly that it was practically barren. Aside from one other person - presumably the Senior Investigator that looked to gather the lot together - nobody else was here for the time. Taking a seat at one of the open chairs around the oval-shaped table, Setsuko continued to spend her time on her phone. Within a few short moments, she heard a voice pick up from the man on the other side of the table. "You're... Setsuko, right? Rank 3 Junior Investigator?" Putting her phone into sleep mode, she quickly pocketed it, and turned her attention to the man in front of her.
"The one and only," she smiled, "might I ask who you are? I can't say I'm too familiar with really anyone here." With a nod, the man spoke as more people started to enter the room. "Of course; I'm Asher Allaband, First-Class Senior Investigator. Truth be told I don't really expect any of y'all to know me all that well, I only recently transferred here from the United States Branch. Nonetheless, it's a pleasure to meet all of you." Through the various words of greeting and introductions from everyone currently in the room, one last face entered, naturally still on time for the meeting that was soon to start.
"Hello? I was told to report here for my assignment. Name's Alexander Keres." Asher began to speak, maintaining the same smile on his face. "Welcome in, Alexander, it's a pleasure to meet you! Feel free to take a seat wherever you'd like, we haven't started yet. I'm Asher Allaband." As Asher finished introducing himself, most everyone else followed in suit, eventually ending on the first Junior Investigator that had entered the room originally. "Nice to meet you, Alexander. I'm Setsuko. If you don't mind my asking before we start, what drew you to the CCG?"

As soon as Alexander realized he wasn't the only person summoned to this meeting and that there were a number of other Junior Investigators there, he seemed to deflate quite a bit and just rolls his eyes as he goes to plop down into a seat, practically ignoring the Senior Investigator. He was getting ready to take his phone out, along with the earbuds and place one in when it seemed that one of the other Investigators here decided they'd wanted to chat, which provokes a low groan from him and a very disinterested look as he side eyes them, "Nice to meet you, Alexander. I'm Setsuko. If you don't mind my asking before we start, what drew you to the CCG?"
Alexander just stares at her for a moment and then places his phone and earbuds on the table as he slowly turns his head towards her and stares her in the eyes, his own seemingly almost dead and devoid of life, with an unsettling grin, "Child fighting ring. Wasn't very voluntary and then I was told I could fight and kill ghouls. Pretty much a dream come true. How 'bout you?" He eagerly watches and tries to gauge her reaction to this.
He didn't really care nor want pity from this as he didn't really care to dwell on his past. Shit happens but he lived. He was stronger than the others and that was just all there was to it. It would be no different here within the CCG. He was actually truthful with his response. The promise of being able to fight, that was why he agreed to join the fight against the ghouls.

As she finished speaking, Setsuko did what she could to analyze Alexander to the best of her ability. Something seemed to interest her; she couldn't quite point out what it was. Was it his nonchalant attitude toward what looked to be most everything? No, that couldn't be it. Perhaps it was the way he carried himself while walking in? No, that didn't seem like it was it either. "Child fighting ring. Wasn't very voluntary and then I was told I could fight and kill ghouls. Pretty much a dream come true. How 'bout you?" Setsuko simply stared at Alexander blankly for a few moments before actually taking in what he'd said.
"Well then," she said, not quire sure how to respond, "I'm uh, I'm sorry to hear that happened. Hopefully you're doing at least a little better now?" She gave a lighthearted chuckle toward Alexander, hoping to bring a more cheery mood to the situation. This wasn't exactly something she wasn't curious about, but at the same time, prying was going to be the last thing she wanted to do. Something didn't exactly sit well with her on the matter, though. Something she felt she was going to need to dive deeper into later. For now, though, she'd at least have the decency to answer the question that was asked of her.
"Um..." she started, pausing as she lost herself in thought, "I had a pretty rough childhood thanks to a certain Ghoul. My reason for joining is a bit more, well, selfish than most. I'd like to put that man down if I'm able. Thankfully he hasn't been captured, so considering he's likely still out there, I'd like to be able to grab him by the neck and-" "All right everyone," Asher interrupted, giving Setsuko a sort of death-glare, "first things first, glad to see all of you introducing yourselves to each other, whether that be for better or worse." He paused, locking eyes with Setsuko, who simply giggled.
"Anyway, though, we've got a bit of a partner exercise planned for the day. Since you're all Rank 3 Investigators, you've all got roughly the same amount of experience as each other. Because of that, there isn't really any restrictions to this; I'd like you all to pair off into groups of twos. From there, you're each going to be given a different task to get to know each other a bit better. I expect these done by day's end, all right?"

Alex grins as he watches Setsuko try to comprehend what he'd just told her. It was honestly always funny to watch people try to grasp a way to respond to that kind of information, especially when he says it so nonchalantly. Her response amused him even further however, "Well then, I'm uh, I'm sorry to hear that happened. Hopefully you're doing at least a little better now?"
Alexander chuckled along with her although not as lighthearted and shook his head as he did, ""I'm not sorry and I couldn't be any fucking better." The massive grin on his face was proof enough of that statement and it only grew wider as he listened to her answer to the same question. He frowns and shoots his own glare at the Senior Investigator for cutting her off. He was definitely going to press about that later, the intrigue of whatever this Ghoul did to wrong her so much so that she'd want to strangle them with her own hands. That sounded like it was sure to be fun to watch.
He was hardly paying attention to whatever Ass All-Band was saying or whatever his name was as he squints at Setsuko with a grin, trying to figure out the mystery of the Ghoul. Perhaps he'd killed someone she loved or maybe he even tortured her like he'd been. Either way the story had to be a good one. When he manages to pull his attention away from Setsuko and back to Asher, he catches the tail end of what he'd just said and frowns.
He glances around and notices the others pairing up and then he seems to get the gist of the 'assignment'. An idea then pops into his head ad he returns his attention back to Setsuko and grins, "So care to partner up with me? All these others don't seem as interesting."

"I'm not sorry and I couldn't be any fucking better." Setsuko simply giggled at his response. In truth, she couldn't really do much else before responding to the man. "Well, that's good to hear at least. Glad to hear you're like, holding up well after something like that. I can only imagine how rough something like that must have been for you." From there, she went on to answer the question she was asked, and was subsequently cut off relatively quickly. Letting out a soft huff, Setsuko went on to listen to what Asher had to say. Seems like some sort of partnering up was necessary.
Setsuko let out a soft sigh. While she certainly was confused about the situation, she wasn't going to question it. There wasn't really any reason to, especially given that she was significantly outranked. She was simply going to comply, and see just what she'd be able to get out of these exercises. Though, she was met with a pleasant surprise upon hearing Alexander speak up again. "So care to partner up with me? All these others don't seem as interesting." Turning her gaze to the man, Setsuko simply paused for a quick second, before following up with a nod and smile. "I'd be okay with that. You're certainly interesting yourself."
Turning her attention back to Asher, who seemed to be handing each paired group a large envelope, Setsuko waited patiently as he spoke. "So here's how we're going to do this," he said, continuing down the table with each packet, eventually passing one in between Alexander and Setsuko, "each of you have been given a specific shady individual within a different ward across Tokyo. The identities and statuses of each of these individuals have already been confirmed by the CCG; some of them are Ghouls, some of them aren't. I'm sure you all can see where I'm going with this."
"Simply put, you've got until nightfall to confirm whether or not the individual you've been given is, in fact, a Ghoul or not. Those of you that do receive Ghouls, you're green-lit to engage if and when you confirm their identity. All of the Ghouls that have been passed out are confirmed to be C-Ranked or just about there. In groups of two, you should have no problem taking them down. Listed in those envelopes is each suspect's name, place of residence, occupation, description, and potential connections. This should be more than enough for all of you to come to a conclusion by the end of the day, and should help us provide ample evidence as to your skills within the CCG."

Alex raises a brow at the details of the assignment they were being given. He doesn't bother touching the packet and leaves it for Setsuko to look through. He just crosses his arm and leans back as he thinks this over and then just huffs, "This is bullshit. We've better have gotten an actual target. Even if this is a measure of our aptitude and capabilities, they should still be sending us after ghouls if they already have them confirmed."

As the papers had been passed in front of each of the groups, settling about in front of each pair as necessary, Setsuko hummed softly to herself as she began to sift through what she could. Though, while she was sifting and searching through the documents, it seemed that Alexander had something he wanted to say.
"This is bullshit."
Almost immediately, his words pulled the girl from her document-induced trance. Glancing over toward her with a rather inquisitive expression painted across her face, Setsuko took a moment to fully hear out what he had to say. "We've better have gotten an actual target. Even if this is a measure of our aptitude and capabilities, they should still be sending us after ghouls if they already have them confirmed." As he finished, she nodded her head in response.
"I agree," she spoke softly, "though, assuming that these were a few of the only C-Ranked Ghouls currently on the 'chopping block' at the moment, I'd think it makes sense that a few standard individuals were thrown into the mix, no? Last thing we'd want is a group of unprepared investigators rushing into a suicide mission like that." Following up with a soft giggle, she simply awaited Alexander's response, should he have had one.
Regardless of if he did or not, though, the girl focused her attention toward the papers that were tossed in front of them. Taking the opportunity to sift through what she could for the time being, she'd found some rather... interesting information through what they'd been given. "Hmm..." she pondered aloud, "Alex, take a look at this when you've the opportunity. If this guy turns out to be a ghoul, then we've got quite the interesting little investigation ahead of us."
Passing a few of the documents to her partner, Setsuko took a moment to think about what she'd just read; their target? A Mr. Tanaka Nakatani, a resident of northern Suginami and apparently quite the chef. If he had been a Ghoul, he'd no doubt be quite good at blending in.

"I agree," Alex was surprised to hear her agree until she followed it up with the rest of her statement which he immediately started to tune her out as he leans back in his seat, not really giving her a response nor bothering to glance at the papers that were given to them.
At least not until she spoke up again, wanting to draw his attention to who their target was supposed to be. He glances over it real quick and then a grin settles on his face as he realizes what could be happening if this person was a ghoul, "Oh? This seems like it could be more interesting than I figured."
He returns his attention back to her and nods as he places the papers back on the table and pockets his phone and earphones, "Alright so I guess we should go and check out where he works then? See if anything is off about the place."

"Alright so I guess we should go and check out where he works then? See if anything is off about the place." Nodding her head in response, Setsuko did what she could to organize the files, before placing them into the folder they'd been given. She was absolutely going to bring this with them; it only made sense, after all. Taking a deep breath, she stood up from her seat, watching Alex pocket his phone.
Stretching her shoulders, all but wanting to remained seated, Setsuko huffed to herself with a soft smile spread across her lips. Looking back toward her partner for this mission, she couldn't help but keep that smile up. He was certainly an interesting individual, no doubt. Given his past experiences, she was quite curious to see how he'd perform in conflict, should they luck out with a Ghoul for this mission. Only time could really tell.
Collecting the paperwork and making her way toward the door, she held it open for Alex, assuming he was ready to follow her out. "Truthfully I'm glad we're headed to Suginami," she said somewhat casually, "the food there is quite good, from what I've heard. After this is all said and done, would you be interested in catching a bite to eat? My treat." If nothing else, she was looking to make at least one acquaintance during the day if she could help it. Didn't hurt to break out of her shell every once in a while, yeah?
Making her way over toward the elevators to head to the garages, Setsu waited patiently for the machine to arrive to their floor. In the meantime, perhaps she'd spark some conversation? "I saw you've headphones on you," she said to Alexander, showing a pair she kept tucked away in a pocket, "if you don't mind my asking, what do you like to listen to?"

Alex watched as she placed the files back in their folder and got up with an odd smile on her face that he found even odder as she kept her smile as she looked at him, causing him to raise a brow at her curiously, trying to figure out why she was smiling at him like that but when he couldn't come up with anything he just rolls his eyes and gets up from his seat, shoving his hands in his pockets as he steps up to the door as she held it open for him.
When Setsuko mentioned where they were headed, he didn't seem to particularly interested, not really having seen much of the other wards as he'd only just recently gotten to the CCG HQ from the Garden. However when she mentions treating him to some good food he can't help but grin at her, "Sure thing but a fair warning, I can have quite the appetite." Alex didn't really care about making acquittances or friends within the CCG but he wasn't one to pass up an offer of free food.
Unfortunately, it seemed like his new partner would rather like to get to know him while they waited for the elevator, asking him about his music earlier and he sighs as he glances at her earbuds before shrugging, "Mostly your basic mainstream heavy metal if I'm being honest. What about you?" He didn't actually care but he rather the questioning would get turned away from himself. She seems like the type who talks when they're nervous or something. Either that or she's just the silent awkward type.

"Sure thing but a fair warning, I can have quite the appetite." She couldn't help but smile at Alex's words. "Is that so?" she asked back, turning her attention to meet him, "Can definitely say the same from me; perhaps it'd be fun to see who's got a larger one?" She was interested in seeing just how he'd respond to a friendly competition of sorts.
As the elevator arrived, and the two promptly stepped in, she asked her question, and similarly got a response from Alex in turn. "Mostly your basic mainstream heavy metal if I'm being honest. What about you?" In truth she couldn't say she was surprised, given how popular the genre was starting to get. Regardless, she respectfully nodded. "Good choice," she responded back, "Fan of the pop scene myself."
Picking up on his general disinterest and lack of desire to make conversation, she'd be receptive to the fact. She wasn't going to force him to talk if it wasn't something he didn't want. As such, if he didn't say anything else, she had no problem sitting in relative silence in the elevator, simply humming softly to herself. Nerves with the mission were starting to set in.
As the elevator eventually arrived on the garage floors, she stretched her shoulder, throwing her arm high up to the sky in order to try to pull on her joints. With a soft huff, she walked out of the elevator, and toward the back of the garage. "Got a ride you'd prefer to take, or are you wanting to head together?" She asked, "I'm glad either way."

Alex just let's out a bit of a scoff at her comment before they got onto the elevator and smiles, "We'll see about that." They get into the elevator and they ask their questions about each other's music interest, her answer somehow not too surprising to Alex although he also half expected to get an odd answer like orchestral or something like that.
He was thankful for the fact that she didn't ask anymore questions the rest of the elevator ride down however he wasn't a fan of the silence which prompts him to lean against the back wall of the elevator and pull out his phone and place one of the earbuds in as he goes back to listening to his music, the song able to be heard through the earbuds with how loud he was listening to it.
He stays like this the entire way down and only moves when they arrive at their destination, although he leaves his music playing and the one earbud in. Out of habit, he starts to head towards where his slender sports bike is parked until she spoke up which causes him to pause and give her a curious look, "I guess it'd make more sense to go together huh?"
He turns back to follow her, motioning for her to lead the way. He hoped she didn't drive anything too slow or else the trip was probably going to turn into the extended version of their elevator ride.
