With a frown on their face, Wynne hurried down the empty street. It was currently nighttime, and without the streetlamps shining the way, it would be almost impossible for them to see. Not only that, but they always had the feeling that something was lurking in the shadows, even if there was actually nothing there. But for some people in this area, there had actually been something lurking. A ghoul to be precise. And there was a reason they were retreading the same footsteps as the victims before them. In simpler terms, Wynne was bait. Most of the victims who had disappeared had been traveling on their lonesome. Perfect pickings for up and coming ghouls. The thing with this eating method was that usually the culprits weren’t that strong, as they only grabbed one person at a time in order to stay under the radar. Sure the disappearances didn’t necessarily mean a ghoul, but the majority of time it did. This was one of the main reasons the CCG told people to be careful when they walked around at night. But even with that warning, sometimes it wasn’t enough. They were on their own for this one, with no backup to call upon. This was a test, from Sunlight Gardens themselves to make sure they were still keeping up with their training. It had been a few years since Wynne had gotten their own place, but their past haunted them still. Unfortunate, but there was nothing they could do about it. Failure wasn’t an option. If they failed, they would be another disappearance in the 19th ward. Although at that point it would be clear that the culprit was a ghoul. Investigators just didn’t disappear after all. In order to sell the bystander facade, Wynne was in their casual clothes. A purple dress that extended to their calves with a black long sleeved shirt on top of it. With their fanny pack on their waist. It was there where both of their Quinque were held. A good thing they had such small weapons, otherwise hiding their Quinque wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did. Still, even with their senses alert and ready, they were still nervous. If they were unlucky, this could be their last mission. Something Wynne didn’t want to be the case. --------- Stats{Spoiler} - Strength: C

"Party rock is in the house tonight. Everybody just have a good time..." The music began playing loudly as the very walls themselves seemed to shake as three dozen or so people danced wildly to the music. Among would be an utter beauty. Her honey gold hair wrapped up in a twisted low bun which was a fair bit different from how she usually wore her hair. This was by design. Her form was clad in a lovely black party dress with black leggings and to top it of, black heels. Her very presence caught the eye of almost all around her, men and women alike, who would gaze at her with both admiration and envy. There was one more aspect about her that was shared among all guests. Adorning her face was a mask. A white porcelain mask with red stripes that resembled that of a kitsune. Normally this would be bizarre, but this situation demanded a certain degree of discretion. Besides, this was a masquerade. One hosted as a house warming party. While she would be a stranger to most there, Adelina's natural proclivities to temptation and flattery along with an appropriate outfit easily granted her access. This naturally kept her face hidden for the most part, but did not do much for her hair nor her brown eyes. As she danced near another, a lovely specimen caught her eye. Male. Couldn't be much older than 25. She smirked under her mask which was not visible to her potential target. Despite that, her body language immediately changed. It was inviting. He immediately understood as he began to approach her. Her eyes would be enticing, but behind the mask was a truly predatory grin. This was, after all, how she fed. Discreet and careful under normal circumstances. As of late, however, Adelina had come across too many delicious specimens. It was so difficult to always have to tell them no. As such her activity had begun to heighten. As he drew closer, Adelina began to pull him closer by wrapping her arms around his waist. His mask was standard for a masquerade, only covering a part of his face. Before he had a chance to speak, Adelina gently placed her finger against his lips as she took his hand. Walking past kissing couples and drunk party members, they exited the building quickly with him in tow. The wind blew with a slight breeze as the cold air touched their skins. Looking from side to side, it appeared that the streets were empty. Well...almost empty. A peculiar figure could be see walking down on of the streets. Adelina growled softly. She had worked to entice this one. Some random pedestrian was not about to stop her. After all, they appeared to be just a random passerby. Once she would begin to feed upon this poor soul, even if she were caught by this passerby, she was sure that they would simply run away in fear. As she dragged her partner for the night down the stairs, he spoke with a chuckle. "Now now. Calm down there darling. Where would you be taking me?" Adelina smiled as she spoke in a rather sultry tone. "A place of pleasure darling. You won't regret it~"
This was all he needed to hear. Adelina began to pull him gently as she walked ahead of him. She took him forward about a block before ducking into an alleyway and pulling him in. She chuckled as they walked farther into the alleyway before Adelina pushed into against the wall with a little bit of force. She growled seductively as he could not help, but smile. "A feisty one aren't you baby?" Adelina nodded as she trailed her fingers up his neck and removed her mask. Her brown eyes suddenly became visible to him along with her scarlet red lipstick. Her face would draw closer to his neck in such a way that her face would be obfuscated to anyone about to walk into the alleyway. She nibbled slowly as he gave a soft moan. She purred for a moment, blowing hot breath against his neck before she struck. Her hand would come to his mouth, covering it as her teeth came against his neck once more. This time it would be much more than a nibble. Her canines violently dug into his neck, ripping it open. His eyes widened suddenly as blood sprayed against her face. Soft whimpering surrounded Adelina's hand as she purred once more. Hot red blood dripped to stain the ground below as his eyes rolled into the back of his head. He was dead in mere moments if not from shock then from the sudden loss of blood from the carotid artery. Adelina simply licked her lips as she would prepare to enjoy her meal. At least she was hoping to. There was the pedestrian from earlier after all. She was confident that this one would be like the rest who came across Adelina's feeding grounds. They would likely gaze upon a corpse and run out of fear. Blood covered her dress after all along with her lips and hands. She leaned down to the quivering lifeless body of her victim, prepared to continue feasting under the cover of darkness in case anyone interrupted her. { Adelina's Dress} { Masquerade Mask} { Stats} - Strength: C

As Wynne walked further down the street, they noticed a couple emerge from a building blasting loud music. No doubt a party was going on there, and a lively one from the sound of things. And a perfect spot for a ghoul to pick up prey. After all, alcohol dulled the senses, so even if they saw something strange, the victims might think it was just from the liquor. Plus other witnesses would be drunk as well and wouldn’t really notice others leaving. And even if they did, they probably wouldn’t remember it.
Following the couple from a distance, Wynne wondered if one of them was actually a ghoul. The two could just be a couple from the party, leading to wasted time. But that was a risk when doing a task such as this. It didn’t take long before the two ducked in an alleyway, disappearing from view. Picking up the pace and putting their back against the wall, they listened for any strange sounds. And strange sounds there were.
Feeling a blush creep up on their face, Wynne wondered if they made a mistake. Judging from what they could hear, it seemed like the two were just getting quite friendly with each other, so to speak. Although they were hidden from sight, they still felt embarrassed for eavesdropping on what was clearly a personal moment. Still, the longer they listened, the stranger the sounds became. These sounds didn’t sound like mere kissing anymore. It sounded almost like....chewing?
Peeking their head over the corner, Wynne’s eyes widened in horror at the sight that awaited them. It was a ghoul! And they were too late, judging from the lifeless man hanging from the grip of a blond haired woman. Cursing themselves quietly, they narrowed their eyes in anger. If only they intervened sooner, the man would still be alive. But as more time passed, the anger began to transition into nervousness. They had never faced a ghoul on their lonesome before, and if they weren’t careful, they would be joining the deceased man as well.
Fumbling with their bag loudly, Wynne quickly pulled out Yoso, a dark gray pistol. Aiming it at the woman, they took a shaky breath before speaking. “Hands up ghoul! Any funny movements and I’ll shoot.” Feeling themselves shake quietly, Wynne tried to ignore the feeling of their heart attempting to beat out of their chest. All they had to do was capture this ghoul and then they could go home and sleep. That was it. Simple right?

As Adelina licked her lips, her eyes widened with joy. His blood was exquisite. It was spicy and burned slightly as it rolled down her throat. She had certainly struck a jackpot with this one. She did not need to eat for maybe another month, but it was always a grand opportunity to get a taste for some of the culinary wonders that the world had to offer. This man had given his life so that she could enjoy that wonder. She continued to dig into him. Grabbing his arm tightly, she began to take another bite as more blood bubbled, spraying onto her mask and face. She just licked her lips far more. Unfortunately it was this vile and predatory display that would cause her to not notice the approach of another. The pedestrian from earlier. As Adelina stared down at her prey, she heard a voice behind her. “Hands up ghoul! Any funny movements and I’ll shoot.” Her demeanor changed somewhat. The rather messy and sensual sounds that had been emerging from her lips simply stopped. Instead there was silence as she contemplated the situation. Her face was turned away from Wynne though even then, it would be wreathed in shadow. With the gentlest of movements, she began to move the mask to cover her gore-covered face. Her movements would once again be slow as she rose to her feet. This was likely no mere pedestrian. Either it was foolish law enforcement that thought it could injure her with a normal gun or it was in fact a member of the CCG. Adelina cursed under her breath as she stood there facing the wall. Under the mask she simply bit her lip as she tried to relax. Her hands would slowly rise above her head. She could not provoke this one without getting a good look at them first. She would speak with a light chuckle, disguising her voice with varying inflections along with her typical sultry disposition. "Well now. It seems that I have been apprehended by a knight in shining armor~" She chuckled as she began to tease the Investigator. "Most would have already shot me, but you simply have me at gunpoint. I am forced to wonder why? Do you perhaps want to take me into custody?" She grinned at the notion as she relaxed her muscles once more. There is one thing that she could do to even these scales, but she needed to be facing Wynne. She breathed out calmly. "Well I suppose I have no choice, but to surrender. Would I have permission to turn and face my captor?" Adelina would only turn if the Investigator gave her permission. If they did, Adelina would slowly turn so that she was now facing Wynne. Her beautiful dress, artistic mask and face hidden underneath were all stained with the blood of the corpse that now lay at their feet. Adelina slowly began to look Wynne up and down, smirking. They were wearing a lovely little purple dress. Dressed for the occasion it seems. Slowly Adelina slipped out of her heels with dexterous efficiency so that her bare feet now touched the ground. "You are quite a treat yourself. Such a shame that we need to be on opposite sides. I would have loved to show you a heavenly time as well~" She giggled softly. If she had been given a chance to turn around and face Wynne, Adelina would be in a far better position assuming that Wynne had not taken a shot at her yet. The back of Adelina's dress would move slightly, something bubbling underneath, likely unbeknownst to the Investigator before her. Adelina began to speak. [smear:931aed]"Perhaps we can work something out after all. Someone as easy as the eyes as you comes along only a few times in one's life. Beautiful. Soft...and delicious."[/smear:cc1111] Adelina would waste very little time as her eyes beneath the mask changed. The once purely white sclera and chocolate brown iris morphed. Blotches of pitch black formed as it became as dark as the night. Her iris suddenly turned scarlet. Meanwhile on her back, Adelina's kagune began to grow. From her scapula emerged a yellow pair of enchanting wings. While yellow dominated the majority of the Kagune, thin purple tendrils adorned the wings as well. Adelina would feel the manifestation of her Kagune bolster her natural agility. She would certainly use it to strike quickly. Moving at a heightened speed of A-Rank, Adelina would descend upon Wynne. Assuming that the Investigator took a shot at her when her Kagune manifested and the ghoul was rushing her down, Adelina would try to dodge the first bullet by weaving to the side for a moment. If she was successful in dodging a bullet, Adelina would try to use her speed to her advantage. Spinning around and utilizing her right foot and leg, Adelina attempted to slam it into the Investigator. If she hit, she would likely create a C-Rank wound upon Wynne's person and perhaps even jolting her backward into the wall behind her. If this was the case and Wynne was sent back into a wall, Adelina would attempt to move at her again. This time, however, she would attempt to pin the Investigators limbs against the wall, purring softly if she was successful. { Kagune} RC Type: Ukaku [↑ Speed | ↓ Strength] { Kagune Appearance} Kagune Traits:Thunderblight - The Kagune has adapted its RC Cells to produce a static electricity. As the ghoul raised her hands, Wynne watched for any sign of trickery. These creatures were known for their guile, so they wouldn’t be surprised if they tried anything suspicious. But if she did, they would be ready. “I’m no knight, but I am your worst nightmare. And that depends on you. Any strange movements and you’ll be leaving with more holes than you started with.” Nodding their head, they let out a satisfied huff. Their statement should be able to intimidate the ghoul and get her to surrender without a fight. If Wynne heard those words aimed at them, they’d be shivering in their boots.
“Sure, but slowly.” As the ghoul turned to face them, Wynne felt a frown appear. How had she put on a mask without them noticing? It was obvious from the blood covering her body that ghoul had just been feeding, therefore the mask had to have been off sometime in the past minute. Sleight of hand? Or something more? “Compliments get you nowhere monster. I can still see the blood on you from your latest victim. I don’t like doing this sort of thing, but ghouls like you leave me no choice.”
As the ghoul giggled, Wynne felt goosebumps rise across their arms. Was that how she seduced the other man to follow her here? By being charismatic and flirty? Either way, Wynne would not fall for her womanly wiles! This temptress wouldn’t have them! “As long as you come with me willingly, no harm will befall you.” Unfortunately for Wynne though, it seemed their words had fallen upon deaf ears. Wincing uncomfortably at being called soft and delicious, they flicked to the electric mode on Yoso. They didn’t like where this conversation was headed. Not at all.
The moment bright yellow wings emerged from the ghoul’s back, Wynne would let loose two shots off. One towards her torso and one towards her left leg. Thanks to their hand being already on the trigger and the alleyway being narrow, dodging their two attacks would prove to be quite the challenge. If their attacks landed, a burst of electricity would surge through the ghoul’s body, temporarily shocking them. The attack was similar to a taser, and should work just as effectively as one did on humans. Assuming they hit of course.
If Adelina continued her speedy pursuit through their attacks, they would be hit by the oncoming slam and tumble across the rough ground painfully, tearing parts of their dress as their body slid to a stop. Letting out a small moan of pain, Wynne picked themselves up from the ground, ignoring the stinging sensations of the bruises and bleeding wounds now dotting their body. Perhaps they were out of their league here. The battle had only just begun and they had already lost the first exchange. Probably would've been wiser to shoot the ghoul while they were still undetected. But that wasn’t the way they did things, and it was coming back to bite them.
Taking a few painful breaths and spitting out a glob of blood, Wynne attempted to make some distance from their opponent by hobbling away. Thankfully due to their previous position, they were thrown outside the alleyway, rather than against a wall. Sure their body was treated like a flimsy punching bag, but they’d rather have that than have their spine slammed against a brick wall. There was no getting back up from that. Either way, the situation wasn’t looking good. Their dress was ruined, their body was bruised and bloody, and all they wanted to do was go home and cry. If this is what they had to face in their first fight, no wonder so many Rank 3 investigators were killed. By the time the night was over, would the be such a statistic as well?

Adelina lurched forward towards Wynne with a predatory gleam in her eyes. She was a ghoul. A wolf among sheep. The sheep rarely dared strike at her as they were normally too afraid to be struck down themselves. Those killed by Adelina would suffer a terrible fate. She had desecrated countless corpses of her victims. Mutilating them after luring them into her web. Did this Investigator think that they would be different? They would become prey just as easily as the rest before them. Her Kagune had fully manifested which effectively made Adelina ready to face this feisty little treat. As she made her move towards Wynne with impressive speed, it seemed that the Investigator was quick on the draw. As Adelina descended upon them, she heard two shots be taken. One towards her leg while the other rocketed towards her torso. Her motions would be quickly as she weaved her to the side. This allowed her to successfully dodge to the side to evade the first of two bullets, the one bolting towards her leg. As it collided with her leg there would be a notable grunt of pain that erupted from her lips. The bullet itself would dig into her flesh as Adelina felt another sensation. A jolt suddenly lit up within her leg. To most this sensation of electricity would be rather discomforting. It would flare up within her flesh as the electricity would debilitate her. Instead, Adelina would feel no such sensation. Instead Wynne would likely see the electricity that should have tased her rise up her leg. It would radiate towards her torso and began to disperse across her entire body. Her entire body began to crackle with electricity as the electric shock was effectively nullified. With that she could move towards Wynne easily with much impediment. With her agility she would come upon Wynne easily and it was that same agility that would allow her to crash her leg into the Investigator with ease. She would feel it almost immediately. The breaking of skin underneath and the natural bruising that Wynne would experience. The force of the blow would send the Investigator's frail body to the ground as they slid along the ground out of the alleyway. Adelina would simply smile as the Investigator's dress had become torn by the friction. As they stood, their movements would appear hobbled and uneven. There was a respectable amount of distance between the two of them as Adelina hummed softly. Her gait would be slow, sauntering closer to the entrance of the alleyway. Adelina's voice would ring with the same sultry sound and differing inflections as she heard the Investigator whimper softly. "Oh darling. How scandalous. How obscene to be walking around with a torn dress like yours~" She would grin and purr seductively as she began to skip closer and closer to her. Her speed wouldn't be much faster than her hobbling. In fact, it would be a tad slower. Adelina was showing a bit of her ghoulish and predatory side. If Wynne watched her, she would notice the wound around the Ghoul's leg bubble. The bleeding that gushed from the wound slowly faded as the wound itself began to close. The electrified bullet popped out of her wound as it simply fell against the ground. With one hand, Adelina raised her mask slightly so only her crimson lips were visible. It was curled into a sadistic smirk as Adelina's Kagune morphed. It's form would suddenly harden and crystalize as the normal glow of the weaponized muscle would become beautiful crystals that radiated yellow and purple alike. Despite the beauty of the display, however, Adelina was going to toy with the Investigator some more. Suddenly Adelina's Kagune would expel a material. Numerous shards that flew at Wynne. These shards would not be looking to hit Wynne directly. Instead Adelina was aiming them just behind the Investigators' form. She grinned more as her lips let out a hearty chuckle. "Oh how I adore watching you run my darling~" Adelina's crystalized scales began to crackle with a little bit of electricity as she licked her lips and finished by biting her lip. It seemed that Wynne's suffering and fear was surely making her flush. {Character Traits}
Electrophoretic - As your Kagune has adapted to conduct the fury of nature, electricity, so has your body adapted to its energy. When struck by electricity of any kind, the body disperses the current thereby mitigating its effects. Wounds suffered from electricity are reduced by 1 Rank and paralysis induced by electricity is negated.
Femme Fatale - You have become a vessel of lust and sexual appeal, able to easily seduce those who lay their eyes upon you. While conversing with another individual with whom you neutral or good standing, your Presence in social interactions involving flirtatious behavior is treated as 2 Ranks higher.

“This was my favorite dress….” Glaring at the approaching woman with a mixture of fear and anger, Wynne gripped their pistol tighter. Of course their opponent would find the time to mock them as they suffered. What had they expected from a ghoul? Rotating their dress slightly, Wynne attempted to cover up their shown pale smooth skin to no avail. The rips and tears were just too large. And although it gave them quite the indecent look, they had other more pressing concerns. Such as not getting killed and devoured.
Shivering with pain and apprehensiveness, Wynne watched as their opponent purred and skipped closer to their position. They felt like prey. A rabbit caught in the gaze of a snake as it slithered closer and closer. It was not a feeling they enjoyed. Not at all. Especially when the bullet they hit her with popped out of her leg. While it still did damage, judging from how quickly the wound healed, it would take a lot more bullets to put her out of commission. And that would take time. Time that they didn’t have.
Their slow retreat backwards was stopped as numerous shots were launched at them. Or above them to be more specific. Crouching to the ground quickly with a hiss, Wynne watched as the shards soared above them. Judging from where they landed, it was obvious what the ghoul was trying to do. Coral them closer to her and stop her from retreating. Unfortunately it was working, as the pathway behind them was now riddled with crystal-like shrapnel that would tear open their feet in an instant. Retreating further was no longer an option.
Reaching into their bag with their left hand, Wynne pulled out their second gun, Serenity. Just shooting their opponent wasn’t a valid strategy based on what they’d seen. Not only was the ghoul sturdy, but electricity didn’t seem to affect her. Judging from how it dispersed across her body when she was hit. Maybe that had something to do with how her Kagune was part yellow? Thoughts for another day. They needed to get their head in the game if they wanted to survive.
Aiming Serenity at their abdomen, Wynne closed their eyes for a brief moment as they fired a shot towards themselves at point blank range. Hunching over in pain, they let out soft moans as their Quinque went to work. They were still hurting all over, but now they would be able to withstand more blows. Their body was just a little bit tougher, and that might be what they need to get an edge over their opponent.
“Watch this Bitch.” Shoving Serenity back into their bag, Wynne gripped their remaining gun with both hands and activated the incendiary mode. Since electricity didn’t work, they would move on to the next element. And if this one didn’t work either, they’d move on to the next one. Their opponent’s resistances had to end somewhere and they would find out where it did. Taking a deep breath, Wynne stood up straight with trembling legs before firing three shots towards the ghoul. One towards her torso, one towards her left leg, and the final one towards her left arm. It was time to turn the tables.

Adelina's giggle resonated with a sadistic glee as she peered at her prey. She was going to continue her cruel advancement, but the next comment that Wynne made had her stop for a moment and stare at the Investigator. “This was my favorite dress….” Adelina blinked under her mask as she giggled softly. She licked her lips as she spoke out with a calm and patronizing glee. "Oh my sweet little dove. Don't worry. Your modest form is still clad in cloth, though I'm afraid that it may not last~" A chuckle accompanied the punctuation of the sentence as she clasped her hands together. She began to fantasize about what she would do to Wynne. Perhaps she would start with the eyes. They were always the chewiest. Perhaps a finger? Maybe even an arm? The possibilities were endless and if Wynne's fate was to end up as another meal for Adelina, she would make sure to treat her right. After all, a well-prepared meal was the most delicious. As she shot shards behind the Investigator, she began to consider how she would respond to this. After all she had just seemed to use strictly guns. No Quinque that she had showed off so far seemed to be intended for close range fighting. As the Investigator rummaged through their bag once more, Adelina watched cautiously from the distance as they pulled out yet another gun. She scoffed for a moment as she watched them point it at their own abdomen. Were they truly about to face death with cowardice rather than fight for survival. At least this is what Adelina thought until Wynne let the bullet loose. She heard the grunt of moan of slight discomfort, but her opponent seemed to find after all. She raised an eyebrow as she bit her lip. Her voice resonated with a bit of irritation. "They are called Quinque correct? Those perverse weapons you wield that our fashioned from us. I wonder much blood of Ukaku ghouls do you have on your hand? One? Three? Perhaps more...?"Her voice was not nearly as cheery as she revealed her distaste for Quinque. The world was a realm of predator and prey. What made humans so special? What made them exempt from the rules of nature. Regardless of that, Adelina had her suspicions about the gun that Wynne was stowing away. If it did not harm them then what did it do? Was it like an adrenaline shot? Would they be healed? It was time to see. At first Adelina wished to play around with Wynne some more, but her next comment towards Adelina made her grit her teeth and bite her lip. “Watch this Bitch.” The nerve of this one! Perhaps Adelina would need to make short work of her after all. She began to sink into a relaxed stance, a little lower to the ground. She needed to stay mobile against this one. Suddenly there it was. Another three shots at her. Adelina knew that their gun had the potential to utilize electricity. Her natural resistance to electricity would prove useful, but Adelina was not about to stand around and simply take the hit. Upon hearing shots be taken, Adelina deftly jolted to the side using her natural agility. Unfortunately for her, bullets were still bullets and two would certainly leave their mark. Her torso and left arm flared with pain as the incendiary round dug into her skin and smoldered underneath her fair skin. She gritted her teeth as she knew it would only be a matter of time until her body naturally recovered from the injuries. Meanwhile she tilted to the side, putting a large amount of her Kagune on display. She would fire another set of crystallized shards at Wynne though it would be a hailstorm. Three sets of a dozen or so shards directly at Wynne along with their immediate left and right. Together with the shrapnel that dug its way into the ground behind them, it would be difficult for the Investigator to find a place to hide. If these shards dug into their skin, Wynne would find themselves being affected by B-Rank wounds as the shards themselves carried no static electricity. Unfortunately this hail of shards would cause Adelina to gasp for air for a moment as she felt it to be very draining. Meanwhile, Adelina felt her the wound in her torso close again. The bullet popped out as it seared and sizzled upon hitting the ground. Meanwhile Adelina would focus on her Kagune as the crystals of yellow and purple suddenly became less rigid, appearing to be bright yellow wings once more. {Stamina & Wounds} Dodge [1x] - 2 Ranged Attack [3x] - 6

“And how many humans have you killed and ate? Not because you need to, but for pleasure? Don’t you dare try to take the moral high ground with me.” Ghouls didn’t like it when humans fought back, especially with Quinque, something they had no choice but to use. Normal weapons didn’t work on ghouls, and if they didn’t have these, they would be helpless when facing off against them. It was ironic that their opponent called their weapons perverse considering their own heinous crimes.
Thanks to their training, the shots they fired struck their opponent, even through her speed. One missed, but the other two landed, melting the areas they hit. The attack didn’t go without retaliation, as a hailstorm of crystallized shards were sent their way. The area to the left wasn’t safe, and neither was the right. The only area that they could go to avoid all of the attacks was up, and unfortunately for Wynne, they didn’t have the necessary strength to leap several feet off the ground. No, the best they could do was weather the oncoming blows and hoped such an act would be enough to survive.
Crouching down and guarding their extremities, Wynne gritted their teeth as the shards struck their body. It only took an instant before they felt searing pain run all across their body. Crying out in pain, they felt their muscles contract and retract unwillingly as precious things were torn and ripped apart. Their dress, which was already in shambles, had almost every piece destroyed due to the attack. It was now just a few connected lines of strings at this point.
Luckily, Wynne was alive thanks to protecting their head and heart, but only barely. Their right arm, which took the brunt of damage was no longer usable. The same could be said for their legs. It was covered in blood and had several shards sticking out of it that ached with every breath. Their entire front part of their body was in similar straits. They now resembled a porcupine, or an animal struck by one. Except considerably more bloody.
Their old scars were on full display now, but Wynne couldn’t find it in themselves to care. Soon they wouldn’t have to worry about how ugly they looked. Collapsing to the ground with twitching muscles, a bloody gurgle sounded out from them as they struggled not to choke on their own blood. Their vision was darkening and they could barely remain conscious. The pain was almost unbearable, but the worst of it was starting to fade away. Which they were pretty sure wasn’t a good thing.
“Blurglurur.” Wynne wasn’t sure what they were trying to say, but it didn’t matter anyways as the wounds made their words undecipherable. Sunlight Garden had always told them they’d be one of the ones to die early. They weren’t built for such a task, too soft, not the right personality, too weak. And since they couldn’t move and were dying while their opponent was still very much alive, it seemed they were right in the end. Perhaps in the next life, Wynne would be better. They could only hope.

The shards that emerged from Adelina's Kagune were vicious and fierce. Perhaps a couple dozen or so crystalline daggers, ready to shred Wynne to pieces. Adelina remained close to the ground as she waited to see how Wynne would react to this. Would they weave left? Weave right? Perhaps they'd even try to jump to avoid the attack? Either way, Adelina felt that she had them in checkmate no matter which way she decided to move. The Ghoul knew that she was more agile than this one and even she would have trouble evading this storm of crystalline shards.
Well, it seemed that Adelina would have her answer soon. Wynne did not dodge to the side. Nor did they try to leap into the air. In fact, their next movement would have them standing resolute in an attempt to weather the oncoming storm. Adelina simply smirked under her mask as the shards viscously tore into Wynne's flesh. To watch their dress get shredded to pieces as wounds formed all over their body. Adelina was quite pleased with the result. She began to tap her finger against the porcelain mask as she bit her lip. She pondered on what to do with this one.
Approaching her, albeit still carefully, Adelina noted that their wounds were likely getting the better of her. Blood pooled all around them and they seemed to be at the mercy of the ghoul. Adelina peered down at her with a slight grin, her lips likely visible to Wynne for a moment as she raised her mask. Much of her face was still covered, but she would still allow the Investigator to see the lower region of her face. She began to shake her head as she spoke to the dying Investigator. "Tsk tsk tsk~" She leaned down, getting closer to the visage of the Investigator as her voice sounded condescending.
"My poor sweet little dove. You should know better than to try and withstand that which you can't compete with~" With one hand, she gripped the Investigator's cheeks as she licked her lips. "If you weren't so cute I would turn your head into mush on the street here, but I believe that you have earned a second chance. Just remember darling~" The Ghoul leaned down while the Investigator was conscious, placing a deep bite onto her collarbone. While her teeth would tear through skin, she would not leave an open wound. In fact, only teeth marks remained albeit they seemed a little deep.
Small bits of blood pooled from the bite mark as Adelina grinned. "A little something to remember me by sweet dove. Perhaps one day we can play some more and I can discover the full range of your taste~" With that, Adelina simply began hoisting the Investigator's bleeding and admittedly scantily clad body. The Investigator felt about as light as her so this was not the most difficult exercise of today, but it was certainly no cakewalk either. Regardless, Adelina began to slowly carry, slightly dragging, them to the steps of the party that Adelina had came out of not ten minutes prior.
Placing them upon the steps, Adelina began rummaging through their fanny pack. While her hands roamed through it, Adelina found that they carried everything in it. The two Quinque they had used. A pack of gum. Notes. Just about everything. She chuckled as she the ghoul pulled out her own phone. Her phone now displaying a keypad, she dialed a familiar number. It was the number of a nearby hospital that she knew of. As she waited for it to ring, she heard a sweet voice on the other end. "Hello this is Toshima Hospital. How can we help you tonight?"
Adelina cleared her throat as she began to sound like a distressed woman. "Help! Help! There's a woman here. Bloodied. I think she got attacked by a ghoul. Please..you have to send someone!" There was a wail in her voice as she feigned fear and panic. The woman on the other end responded. "Oh no...we will dispatch someone immediately! May I know your present location." Adelina responded with equal distress. "2-chōme-65-5 Itabashi in Itabashi City, Tokyo. Please...send someone soon. I think I can hear someone?!" With that Adelina hung up and chuckled softly.
Before she would take her leave, however, she pulled out a small index card. She began to write down a phone number for her throwaway phone. After writing it in lovely cursive, Adelina kissed the index card so an imprint of a red scarlet lipstick was present on the card. Finally she wrote a little message. It note now read, "Call me sometime xoxo". Adelina placed the little note in their fanny pack and placed it in their lap. Now it was time to take her meal and leave before the ambulance arrived. As she walked back into the alleyway, slipping back into her heels, she picked up the corpse of the young man she had hunted earlier and began dragging him, hoping to enjoy her meal somewhere else where she would hopefully not be disturbed.
